Corporate Social Responsibility

Ambu’s Policy on ESG & corporate responsibility

Ambu is a company with 80+ years of experience with the vision to save lives and improve patient care. Over the past years we have been on a journey to provide the best products to our customers and ultimately patients across the globe. Ambu has always focused on social responsibility with the aim to create real value for the society at large through the company’s products and through dedication to ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) based on the principles of the UN’s Global Compact initiative, and in full support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (the SDG’s).

Alignment with The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The SDGs provide a powerful aspiration for improving our world. At the heart of “Agenda 2030”, the 17 SDG’s form the path going forward, and Ambu is committed to the work. Ambu has a special focus on the SDGs most relevant to our stakeholders and our business– this is where we believe we will be able to have the biggest impact.

On SDG 7 on Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, Ambu will:

  • work towards reducing CO2 emissions by 50% by 2025
  • have 95% of new products released after 2025 be PVC-free
  • have 100% phthalate-free products (blacklisted phthalates) by 2020
  • phase in new sustainable plastic technologies
  • engage in partnership possibilities especially in relation to waste and take-back
  • have 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging applied by 2025 (if suitable solution and/or technology exists)

In addition, Ambu has always – and will continue to focus on SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth.

Ambu supports good health and well-being by raising the standard of care and lowering risk of contamination for patients around the world.

We believe, that working with colleagues of different cultures, ages, genders and ethnicity is a valuable attribute of being a global company. By ensuring the safety for our employees in the workplace, a good professional and social atmosphere in the company as well as a high level of employee satisfaction will continue to make Ambu a great place to work. Ambu offers fair working conditions for all employees in alignment with applicable labour laws and good practice.

In addition, Ambu will continue to further diversity within the employee group across the locations. Ambu will never accept any slavery, trafficking or child labour within Ambu nor in the realm of its business partners.

  • We respect internationally proclaimed human rights and do not accept breach hereof
  • We prohibit the use of forced and child labour
  • We work for a safe and healthy work environment
  • We do not accept bribery and other kinds of corruption

Responsible business practices
To help ensure sound business practices and responsible supply chain management in general, Ambu has a global whistleblower initiative, an updated code of conduct for business partners and suppliers, and will continue with efforts to increase awareness of both legislation and internal business policies for our employees as well as our business partners and suppliers.

Our Code of Conduct defines the basic requirements placed on Ambu employees and Ambu’s suppliers of goods and services concerning their responsibilities towards their stakeholders, employees and the environment in general. The CoC is based upon the principles of the UN Global Compact.

Our presence in many markets with a diversity in culture has made us increasingly aware of a need for a common frame of reference for social responsibility and ethical behavior. Our Code of Conduct sets the standard for us and our business partners, and we have a continued and intensified focus on corporate social responsibility and adherence to the UN Global Compact Principles.

Our policy is to be in compliance with or exceed applicable statutes and regulations of the countries and communities in which Ambu operates.
